The Central Library is user-focused, innovative, and excellence driven. The library has always benefited from the institutes’ culture, is pioneer in adopting new technology.

The Central Library of the college has kept pace with emerging challenges. It is entrusted with the task of procuring, organizing and displaying the various sources of knowledge in different media and also disseminating them to the users. Library is considered to be a "Delivery Room for the Birth of Ideas". Without a good library, no education system is complete and perfect. The state of the art library stretches over 941 square meters; including a spacious reading room that remains open round the clock. It has the capacity to accommodate 250 students at a time. The library has in its collection more than 54052 volumes with 16415 in printed form & 239 e-books 18727 titles on Engineering, Management and Humanities and subscribes to more than one Lakh open Source journals and 9 international & 68 national print media journals. The Central library is an open access library. It is enabled with Wi-Fi technology and security systems with Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV). Library provides lending service to both the faculty and students. The student members of the library can borrow maximum 3 books for a period of 15 days. Book Bank membership is granted to SC/ST student free of cost and they can issue 5 books for a semester under this scheme.

The Library System consists of a Central Library and 6 departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching and research programmes of the Institute. Central Library manages knowledge, both in print and digital formats, ensures seamless discovery and access to these scholarly resources, and provides faculty, students, and staff with professional support to find, evaluate, manage, and use such resources. It provides high-quality ambiance for both reflective and collaborative work and study. The Library, besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and humanities offers library services through its various Divisions and is used by more than 1700 members and others. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. Library has developed an excellent collection of books, journals and non-book material in science, engineering, technology, humanities, social sciences and management. Collection building – a core activity of the library, has been undergoing a transformation. From print-only environment where all our acquisitions were in hard copy format, it has shifted to print-and-online and to online-only formats. Initially setup in 1983, the Central Library moved to its new building in May, 2005 having an area of 758 square feet.

Book Bank Scheme

Central Library maintains a book bank mainly of undergraduate level text books to help students belonging to economically and socially weaker sections of the society. The bank has two collections namely (I) Special Collection (BC) for SC/ST Students (ii) Technological Lending Library.

The Library uses library management software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The software consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing etc. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. The editing and updating activities are in progress.
